Question Written by: Mel C. . April 29th 2018
How long is the screw on this brass castor please? I'm looking to attach them to a round wooden table base and want to make sure they won't pop through! Also, would you recommend 4 or 5 for best manoeuverability and stability? It's a small, but heavy olive wood table.
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
Hi

The length of the fitting screw is 35mm. Generally fitting less castors aids in manoeuvrability as there are less castors that could be facing in different directions causing drag and friction when changing direction. That said; With a round table you do need to consider where the castors are positioned taking into consideration the overhang of the table top. If they are inset too much from the end of the table top, it could cause issues with stability with an uneven distribution of weight. Spreading the load equally over more castors could have an advantage in this case

Please feel free to contact me on 0116 2764987 or e-mail me at tim@rosshandling.co.uk if you would like to discuss anything further.
