Please email me over your plans (along with measurements) to shane@rosshandling.co.uk

Question Written by: Michael Tataru . June 1st 2021
Hi, I'm interested in buying the steel tubing to build a piece of outdoor furniture. Can you please tell me if the steel had any rust treatment apply to it and can you please tell me what will be a maximum load that the connectors can take? For example, the chair frame seat will be 1m length x 0.75m with and I want to connect them with the nylon inserts with the steel core. The connection will tale an approx 130kg load ?
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
product is made out of mild steel tube (thats powder coated). not treatment against the metal so will rust over time.
cannot comment regarding loads as depends on your overall construction.

Question Written by: Jim . July 1st 2018
Can this square tube be used externally and what is the life expectancy live on the coast of Devon thanks Jim
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
Hi.
This is just a mild steel with a 1.2mm wall thickness. They are powder coated on the outside that would offer some protection to the elements however if water / moisture were to get under the coating through a scratch it would lead to oxidisation and corrosion. We do offer a black aluminium section that will be better suited to a coatal environment.
please do get in touch with me if you would like any further assistance

Question Written by: JohnDudgeon . August 8th 2018
what is the best 25x25 box section for making a fruit cage
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
Hi John

As it will be for outdoor use and may span overhead; I would recommend using our aluminium box section. Aluminium will be a better choice for use outdoors at it will cope with the elements and will also be a lighter option for construction.

Please do get in touch with me if i can help further. tim@rosshandling.co.uk 0116 2764987

Question Written by: Gurinder Kular . November 19th 2018
hi , what is the best way for a DIYer to cut these tubes to size?
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
Hi

The steel is 1.2mm so can be cut with a hand hacksaw if you do not have a power tool with a metal cutting blade available, we do sell a cutting jig if you needed support and to ensure a straight cut can be achieved when cutting.

please get in touch with us if you would like us to discuss further.

Do the black steel and aluminium box sections look the same? In part of my project I need to use the single finned sections but had hoped to use steel for the rest of the construction.
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
There is a noticeable shade of difference between the mild steel and aluminium tubing in black.

Question Written by: Ryan . February 21st 2021
Hi I want to put a raised floor in my van would these be suitable and not giving any flex? The width of each bar would be around 2.5 with supports only on each end to allow me to slide 8x4 sheets in. I would lay 18mm ply on top of metal
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
There is a chance that they will flex if you cannot factor in any support every 0.5 - 1m of your structure,

Question Written by: Daniel . May 9th 2020
I am looking to build some rails to sit under the top of an outdoor pergola to hang some drapes. Would these tubes be ok outside (cheshire), could they take the weight of some drapes and do you have any way to secure to the (metal) pergola
Answer Written by: Ross Handling
That depends on the construction and the weight exposure so you would need to look into these specifics.
the tubing is 1.2mm thick mild steel with powder coat so wouldn't be the best for outdoor use over time.
We offer anchor base plates, another way of attachment would most involve drilling holes into the tubing and
using bolts/washers.
