We stock so many castors often it’s confusing which to choose. One of our bestselling castors is our polyurethane castor wheels. PU polyurethane castors are essentially the same hardwearing castors as nylon castors with a few additional features that you may prefer.

What are PU Polyurethane Castors?

Polyurethane castors or PU for short, offer the unique property of having the elasticity of a rubber castor wheel with the added toughness, durability and higher load rating of a nylon or metal castor. These ranges of polyurethane castors are the workhorses of the castor world as they are suitable for most environments and floor surfaces, both internal and external. Many who use standard white nylon castors often upgrade to polyurethane as not only can these castors carry heavier loads they are smoother and easier to push.

So for many fabricators and engineers the following features make polyurethane castors the preferred option;

Load Carrying Capacity
Polyurethane Castors carry a much heavier load than conventional rubber and nylon castors, making these castors an ideal choice for industrial environments, heavy duty manoeuvring on machinery and skates

Abrasion Resistant
Polyurethane castors are resistant to abrasion and often will outwear other wheels. The long lasting properties of these castors make them vastly superior to rubber castors in many applications where abrasion is a high risk. Nylon Castors, although more durable than rubber, may scratch in abrasive environments, affecting the movement. For a long lasting durable option, polyurethane castors are the preferred option.

Less Noise than Nylon Castors

These polyurethane castors are often used where noise abatement is required, as compared to a hard nylon castor which can be noisy and vibrate, the polyurethane coating reduces the sound when moving these castors.

Oil and Solvent Resistant
Polyurethane Castors have excellent oil and solvent resistance, resistant to oils, fats, grease and petrol.

Impact Resistance
Some of our heavy duty Polyurethane castors are used in extreme environments as these castors offer superior impact resistance compared to plastic and nylon wheels.

So if you are looking for a long lasting, durable, quiet castors, that can carry heavy loads and still be easy to manoeuvre, then Polyurethane Castors are the superior choice. With competitive prices and huge stock availability, this makes it our best selling range and the castor of choice!
