Fleetwood Beach Wheelchair Charity
A charity set up in Fleetwood, just north of Blackpool, has dedicated itself to making their popular beach destinations more accessible to disabled people, and Ross Handling is happy to help!
Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs, a charity based in the town of Fleetwood just north of Blackpool, officially opened in September 2020. This charity is made up of representatives from the local council and residents with a vested interest in making their beaches accessible to everyone.
After seeing firsthand how much residents and visitors were struggling to access the beach, the charity’s founder Michael Gray wanted to do something about it. He reached out to like-minded members of the Fleetwood community for support, and together they founded the charity.
Their goal is to be able to provide accessibility equipment including beach wheelchairs to anyone who needs it, free of charge, for use on their seafront - an effort that Ross Handling is proud to support! We are now their official supplier of specialised beach wheelchairs and accessories and we have established a fantastic working relationship with them as a result.
As the UK’s official distributor of WheelEez products, we have now supplied Fleetwood with 6 specialised beach wheelchairs and we expect more to be making their way to Fleetwood in the future.
These offroad wheelchairs are ideal for use on the beach thanks to their rust-proof stainless steel frames, UV-resistant material and lightweight, puncture-proof wheels. The high quality WheelEez wheels are buoyant in water, meaning that the chairs can even float! Although, this is not advised unless you are using something designed to safely float in water, such as the Debug EZ Roller Surf wheelchair that we have recently added to our range of products.
