As we move into 2021, it’s important to stay positive and look forward to getting out and about as we have in the past, especially for those disabled people who have had to be even more strict with isolating themselves during the pandemic due to being high-risk. Thanks to the recently developed vaccines for Covid-19, it is looking likely that a trip to the beach may well be possible this summer. This optimism is especially important to those who have been forced to shield themselves due to being high-risk. These people have had to be even stricter than most when it comes to seeing loved ones and staying indoors.
Included in this list would be those who, under normal circumstances, would already find it incredibly difficult to access the beach for a nice day out - children and adults with physical disabilities that mean they must try to navigate the sand in a wheelchair. Something that would seem so simple to some, such as spending time on a beach, can be a logistical nightmare for others.
Here at Ross Castors, it is our pleasure to be working alongside a number of organisations that support disabled people with devices that help make beaches and other difficult terrain more accessible to them.
