Cargo Handling Castors and Wheels

Cargo Handling Castors and Wheels are essential components in the movement of heavy loads in industrial settings.

About Cargo Handling Castors and Wheels

These castors and wheels are designed to support and transport heavy cargo efficiently. Typically, they consist of a wheel mounted on a bracket, allowing for rotation and manoeuvrability. The wheels can swivel or remain fixed, depending on the specific requirements of the application. Their construction often includes materials like steel or polyurethane, which provide durability and resistance to wear and tear.

Commonly used on trolleys, carts, and material handling equipment, these castors and wheels facilitate the transportation of goods in warehouses, factories, and distribution centres. They are crucial in environments where heavy loads need to be moved swiftly and safely.

When selecting cargo handling castors and wheels, consider the load capacity and the type of floor surface they will be used on. This ensures optimal performance and longevity of the equipment.

Key Features & Applications

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between swivel and fixed cargo handling castors?

Swivel castors can rotate 360 degrees, allowing for greater manoeuvrability in confined spaces. They are ideal for applications requiring frequent changes in direction. Fixed castors, on the other hand, only move in a straight line, offering stability and control when moving heavy loads over longer distances. The choice between the two depends on the specific needs of the operation.

How do I determine the correct size of castors for my application?

To choose the appropriate size, consider the weight of the load, the type of surface, and the required mobility. Larger wheels can handle uneven surfaces better and distribute weight more effectively, reducing the effort needed to move the load. Always ensure the castors can support the total weight of the equipment and cargo combined.

Are there specific materials recommended for different environments?

The material of the castor wheel should match the environment it will be used in. For example, polyurethane wheels are suitable for smooth indoor surfaces and offer quiet operation, while steel wheels are more durable for rough or outdoor conditions. Consider factors like floor type, load weight, and environmental conditions when selecting materials.
