This 250 mm heavy-duty swivel braked castor is designed for extreme load applications where both controlled manoeuvrability and secure braking are required. The swivel head allows full 360-degree rotation, enabling precise positioning of heavy equipment, while the integrated wheel and swivel brake provides reliable locking when stationary.
Each castor offers an impressive 1700 kg load capacity, making it suitable for very heavy industrial machinery, fabrication rigs, large mobile platforms and specialist transport equipment. When used as a set of four, these castors can support a maximum combined load of up to 5100 kg, making them ideal for demanding industrial and engineering environments.
The castor features a 250 mm diameter polyurethane on cast iron wheel, combining exceptional strength with smoother rolling performance compared to steel wheels alone. The A92 Shore hardness polyurethane tread provides excellent wear resistance, high load tolerance and reduced rolling resistance, while helping to protect floor surfaces. The wheel performs reliably across a temperature range of –40 °C to +60 °C, making it suitable for warehouses, factories and cold-store environments.
A robust fabricated steel top plate measuring 200 × 160 mm, with 160 × 120 mm hole centres and 14 mm fixing holes, ensures secure mounting to heavy equipment. The castor has a total height of 305 mm and a swivel radius of 219 mm, delivering stable, controlled movement even under maximum load conditions.
The swivel brake locks both the wheel and swivel head, helping prevent unwanted movement during loading, unloading or stationary operation.
This 250 mm heavy-duty swivel braked castor is ideal for:
Heavy industrial machinery and plant equipment
Fabricated frames and large mobile bases
Engineering, manufacturing and logistics operations
Applications requiring high load capacity with secure braking
Ross Handling supplies industrial-grade heavy-duty castors built for long-term performance. This 250 mm swivel braked castor with polyurethane on cast iron wheel delivers exceptional strength, smooth mobility and dependable braking in the most demanding environments.
